WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF DOGGIE DAYCARE?

Puppies and young adult dogs have a LOT of extra energy to burn off. While you are at work all day, and your dog is either crated (and bored) or left to his own devices (you're asking for it, here)... all of that pent-up energy could lead to minor nuisances or major behavioral difficulties.
Another useful purpose of doggie daycare is Socialization. This is especially true for puppies who are still in the Imprinting Phase, which lasts from 8 weeks of age to 12 - 16 weeks. Socializing your dog with others will minimize the chance for dog-dog aggression and many other problems in the future.

If you want your dog to be
mentally and physically stimulated while you're at work, so
you can both go home and have a calm relaxing evening,
Doggie Daycare may be the answer!

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES FOR MY DOG & ME
BETWEEN DAYCARE & DOG PARK OR A DOG WALKER?

1. Daycare takes place while YOU are not around to play with your dog & take him to dog park!
At work all day? No problem – so are we: at doggie daycare! Dog walkers are also an excellent resource for this, but are more usually expensive and take your dog out for only a limited time. We often recommend dog walkers for older dogs who may not enjoy the rough-and-tumble of daycare.

2. Daycare is constantly supervised by our trained staff, unlike dog park, where the owners may be
too quick or too slow to intervene between the dogs. We KNOW what is just good, rough play and what is inappropriate or unsafe. Also, we are willing to take a bite if necessary to keep your dog safe.

3. At dog park, you have no way of knowing if the dogs are truly safe, especially with puppies – some adult dogs are fine with other dogs but dislike puppies, who have bad manners and sharp teeth! At daycare, every dog is evaluated and we get to know them well. Also, small breeds and small puppies play in a separate area from the bigger dogs.

4. At dog park, your dog may be exposed to diseases and internal or external parasites. Please, DO NOT take a puppy who is under 16 weeks (and therefore not fully vaccinated) to dog park! At daycare, every dog is checked for vaccine status, current health and parasites.

5. After a day at daycare, your dog will come home truly exhausted, and be happy to spend the rest of the evening quietly. A dog walker is more likely to just “take the edge off” your dog's energy level.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?

In order to register for Doggie Daycare, your dog needs to pass a 15 minute evaluation with Alexandra, the head trainer at Animal School. Evaluation appointments are free, and may be scheduled by calling our office or by sending an email to info@alexandramorgan.com

Proof of vaccinations is required for attendance: Rabies for dogs over 16 weeks old, and current Distemper Complex for all ages. We do not require Bordatella vaccine. We do accept a titer proof from a Vet as an alternative to vaccination. We also need to see a record from your Veterinarian showing your dog is negative for intestinal parasites, including giardia. The parasite stool test must have been done within the preceding 6 months, and we require a re-test every 6 months. We only need to see the records from your Vet, and record the dates; you do not need to leave us a copy.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

Your first day is just $5.00
One day of daycare is only $15.00
If you would like a 5-pack, those are $13.00 per day ($65.00 for the package)
The five pack can be used any time within a 3 month period.
If you have multiple dogs, there are discounts available.

When you sign up for any of our group classes, you also get a free day of daycare!

DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING FOR MY DOG?

When you leave your dog with us for daycare, all you need to leave is a leash. If your dog eats lunch, please bring the correct amount of food with any special instructions. We are also glad to administer medications. Please do not bring toys or food bowls, as these are likely to get misplaced or destroyed!

WHEN IS DAYCARE OPEN?

We are open from 6:00am to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday!
