Colleen's Fund

Morgan's Animal Rescue was founded in 1978 by Alexandra Morgan. Since then, over 5,000 animals - including stray dogs and cats, various wild creatures, and abused pets - have been rescued, rehabilitated, and released or rehomed. Whether the situation called for rehabilitation from illness or injury, behavior training, or a combination of these, Alexandra has always been able to achieve results, always with the best interests of the animals as her top priority.

In 2001, she renamed Morgan's Animal Rescue
Colleen's Fund for Animals in honor of the late
Colleen O'Neill, who was an employee of Animal School
at the time of her death. In addition to dog training,
boarding and daycare, Animal School was also
dedicated to the policy of "rescue, train & re-home,"
and usually had about 20 cats and kittens and
5 to 10 dogs and puppies in care at any given time.
As an Animal School Dog Day Care employee,
Colleen was delighted to be a part of this, and at her
tragic, untimely passing her family asked that
instead of sending flowers to the funeral people send monetary donations to Animal School, to help
support the rescue work. Because of their tremendous generosity, Colleen's Fund for Animals was born. At first they were located at Alexandra Morgan's Animal School in East Providence and have relocated to Alexandra Morgan's Animal School in Warren, RI.

Alexandra and her staff do all of the work themselves, at no charge, as well as paying for other associated expenses.

Jean McKenna

Bonita

Turbana
A lover of music and art, an avid collector of stamps and of course a cat lover through and through. Jean McKenna, a Cranston resident, passed away on June 15, 2010. During her final months in the hospital, Colleen's Fund at Alexandra Morgan's Animal School took in and cared for her cats; Patches, Turbana and Bonita. The staff at Animal School would like to thank all of Jean's family and friends who not only comforted her in her time of need but also helped to ensure a smooth transition for her cats. Donna Perry, a friend and neighbor, showed great compassion and foresight in making the arrangements for the cats to be fostered at Animal School. Since then, Turbana and Bonita have found a wonderful new home together. Patches is still looking for a new home and can be found on Petfinder. Jean's son, Richard Heilmann, has generously requested that donations in Jean's memory be sent to the Colleen's Fund at Animal School. Contact us for more information on donations or these cute playmates.

The donations sent to Colleen's Fund are used to pay the veterinary
expenses for food, worming, vaccinations, spay/neuter
and treating illnesses and injuries.
